Ada —

The Ada Lady Cougars and Cougars will be involved in matinee games to open Class 4A area playoff action Thursday in Chickasha.

Coach Christie Jennings’ 17th-ranked Lady Cougars will square off against Tuttle in a 1:30 p.m. consolation bracket contest while Coach Ron Anderson’s 17th-ranked Cougars meet Madill in a 3 p.m. consolation tilt.

The Ada boys, 16-10 on the season, will be trying to rebound from a 73-57 regional finals loss to 11th-ranked Harrah and the Ada girls, 18-8, were on the downside of 56-41 decision to eighth-ranked Harrah in the regional finale.

The Cougars knocked off Madill 61-46 in their only other meeting this year, back on Dec. 11.

“Madill is a team that can make you play ugly. If you’re in a man-to-man (defense) they’ll just pass it around,” said Anderson. “We played pretty well against them the first time. They have a couple of big kids and they picked us up in full-court press, but we were able to pull away as we scored 22 in the third period against them. They’ll be ready to play and we’re going to have to be ready to play.”
