Sterling pitcher overpowers Roff

Edmond —

Break, Sterling’s right fielder, helped save White’s no-hitter with a sliding catch of a liner off the bat of C.J. Johnson in the bottom of the second.

The only other ball Roff hit hard was a shot to left field by Reed that Bailey White caught near the wall.

Tucker White was on top of his game from start to finish.

“He was. He was good today,” Simon said of the Sterling hurler.

But Simon refused to give White all the credit.

“It’s hard to muster up offense when you made as bad decisions (at the plate) as we did,” Simon said. “When you swing at curveballs in the dirt and aren’t willing to hit fastballs away, it’s kind of hard to hit.”
