Roff girls advance to Class A Area

QUINTON – Lauren Trimmer sank two 3-pointers and finished with 14 points, and Breecia Crawford registered a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds as the Roff Lady Tigers used a big third quarter to outlast Weleetka, 37-32, in a Class A regional losers’ bracket game on Saturday.

Roff, 22-7 after playing to a 20-all tie with Weleetka at halftime, outscored the Lady Outlaws, 10-4, in the third.

“This was a great win for our program,” said Roff head coach Blake Crawford. “I’m very proud of these girls for giving the effort they gave this week for three days in a row. We look forward to next week.”

Jalee Hood and Ashley Cornell chipped in five points apiece for the 20th-ranked Lady Tigers. Hood had the team’s other trey.

Brittany Coon topped Weleetka with eight points, and Lexi Posey finished with seven.

No. 14 Hammon shuts down Asher girls

MARLOW — The 13th-ranked Asher Lady Indians were held to single-digit scoring in each quarter and dropped a 42-29 decision to 14th-ranked Hammon in the Class B regional championship on Saturday.

Asher, trailing just 17-16 at the half, was outscored by a 10-5 count in the third quarter and 15-8 in the fourth.

Tarin Dubler and Tristan Milburn each tossed in nine points for Asher, which fell to 22-6 on the season. Each hit one 3-pointer for the Lady Indians’ only treys of the night.

Asher advances to the area tournament as the regional runner-up and will face the Duke-Big Pasture winner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Elk City.

Konawa girls fall to Healdton

KONAWA — Without the benefit of a 3-pointer, Healdton knocked off the Konawa Tigers, 56-36, in a Class 2A district playoff encounter on Saturday.

Morgan Fletcher topped Healdton with 14 points.

Brooke Snow paced Roff with 10 points, including two 3-pointers. Danielle Khoury and Dominique Lyon added six points each.

Brittany Galimba recorded four steals to go with her four points. Roshawn Warrior compiled six rebounds and two assists to go with his four points. Reagan Scott pulled down six boards and scored three points.

“We played awfully hard. We had an opportunity to cut it to inside 10, but we couldn’t get one (shot) to drop,” said Konawa head coach Gordon Garner. “We’ve got to be better without the turnovers and boarding.”

BOYS

Wewoka pulls away from Konawa late

KONAWA – Wewoka broke open a close 48-45 game in the final four-plus minutes of the game in coasting to a 73-50 rout of Konawa Saturday in a Class 2A district playoff action.

Wewoka outscored Konawa 25-10 in the fourth quarter in pulling away.

Bryton Washington poured in a game-high 21 points for Wewoka. Deauntre Roberts followed with 18 points, while Kelly Kemp and Darius Roberts ended up with 13 apiece.

Zach Snow tossed in 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds to pace Konawa. Haydoekeyo Tsosie knocked down a pair of treys. Caynaan Garner added nine points, including one long-range shot, and Kix Walker finished with eight and a pair of assists. Chance Yellowship and Branden Davis handed out two assists apiece.

Konawa, playing without the injured Silas Larney, trailed just 37-31 at halftime but was outscored by a 36-19 margin in the second half.

“It was a big blow to not have Silas Larney,” said Konawa head coach Gordon Garner. “Our boys played well and were only down by six at the half and by as little as four. Wewoka pulled away late when Konawa was forced to press, and the game got away from us. They got a lot of run-outs.”
