Rosters selected for 2013 All-Star Classic

Ada —      Rosters for the 40th annual Ada News All-Star Classic have been finalized after a meeting by the Ada Area Basketball Coaches Association last Wednesday.

     The basketball extravaganza is scheduled for Wednesday, May 15, inside the Murphy-Roberts Gymnasium in Stonewall.

     The girls’ game is set to begin at 6:30 p.m., with the boys’ game to follow at 8 p.m. The contests will pit senior players from the East against senior players from the West.

     The ever-popular 3-point Shoot Out and Slam Dunk competitions will also be part of the All-Star Classic. Preliminary rounds for those events will take place at 4 p.m. on game day (May 15) inside the Stonewall gym. Doors will open at 3:45 p.m. for those events. The gym will be cleared following the completion of the preliminary rounds. Those activities are open to any varsity players, regardless of classification, from the 16 schools that now make up the Ada Area Basketball Coaches Association. Players must have been involved with his or her school’s varsity basketball program.

    As senior Walker Whitworth was bombing in the final five 3-point shots of his remarkable Ada High career, he was resetting the school’s triples record at 151. Across the way at the A-Town Barber Shop, barber Erick Gray did not even know he owned the record of 146, much less that someone was breaking it.
