Tim Simpson shot a 90-82—172 — including registering a birdie on the final hole that helped secure Ada’s state tournament berth. He was followed by Ben Pruitt (92-83—175), Sam Brown (81-95—176) and Reed Townsend (89-91—180). Brown’s effort was his season’s best.
"I was real proud of how Sam played in the first round," Powell said. "That was his lowest round this year by a bunch, and we really needed it because a couple of others were struggling early. Then, I had some really come on and play well in the afternoon [second round]. It was a good team effort."
Poteau's Cody Shore was the individual champion (70-73—143) and his
Pirates won the regional on their home course with a 314-310—624.
Sallisaw was regional runner-up (320-309—629).
