NOTEWORTHY: Andre Davis went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and a run scored, and Sawyer Walton got the pitching victory as Byng topped host Perkins, 6-2, on Thursday. Walton worked 5 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs off four hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Darian Davis threw 1 2/3 innings and surrendered just one hit in earning the save. Joe Nemecek and Andrew Daniel each went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Nemecek doubled once and scored twice. The Pirates broke a 2-all deadlock with a single run each in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

NOTEWORTHY: Jordan Thunder Bull’s two-run single in the top of the 10th inning broke a 4-all tie as Tupelo coasted to a 7-4 victory over Marietta on Thursday in the Sulphur Tournament. Austin Adams followed with an RBI single to round out the scoring. Corey McCollum got the win in relief of starter Luke Leland. McCollum pitched the final three innings, allowing no hits and walks while striking out four. Leland gave up three earned runs off seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts in seven innings of work. Bry Bratcher went 2-for-5 and scored a run for the Tigers and teammate Tyler Daffern was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Tupelo overcame a 2-0 deficit with a four-run fifth inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Daffern. The other two runs came off errors in that inning.
