Eight is enough for Ada Cougars

Ada — Junior forward Tyler Degraw recorded three goals for a hat trick and picked up two assists as the Ada High School boys soccer team rolled to an 8-0 rout of Atoka on Tuesday in the Cougars’ season opener.

Senior midfielder Chase Lott tallied two goals, and freshman defender Payton Owen assisted on two scores.

Also receiving a goal apiece were junior defender James Stenson, freshman forward Omar Santos and freshman midfielder Jason Morgan. Junior defender Justin Latham and junior defender Todd Penick were also credited with an assist apiece.

Ada out-shot Atoka, 15-1.

“It was a good opening performance. We knocked the ball around pretty good, but there’s still much to do to get ready for a tough district run,” said Ada head coach Tom Morrison. “We missed on some early chances but seemed to put things together as the game progressed.”

The Cougars are scheduled to compete in the Rose Rock Tournament at Noble this weekend. Ada opened with a Thursday evening matchup against Crooked Oak.
