NOTEWORTHY: Toni Prince poured in 19 points and Kalli Mowdy contributed 11 as Vanoss outlasted Elmore City, 49-45, on Saturday. Taylor Smith and Crystal Frederick tacked on eight points apiece. Smith drained a pair of 3-pointers while Mowdy and Frederick ended up with one each. Cali Nelson, behind four treys, led Elmore City with 17 points, Rylee McCaskill followed with 12 points and Sophia Landers ended up with 10.

NOTEWORTHY: A poor second quarter placed the Stratford Lady Bulldogs in a huge hole as they fell to Velma-Alma, 60-40, on Saturday at East Central University’s Kerr Activities Center. Velma-Alma, leading 15-10 after one quarter, went on a 16-6 run I the second in taking a 31-16 halftime lead. Stratford was then outscored by a 29-24 margin in the second half. Cheyenne Weast fired in 20 points to pace the Lady Bulldogs in a losing effort. Next on the scoring list for Stratford were Kathryne Alberson with seven points and Vanessa Cothren with six.

COACH’S QUOTE: “We hit a lull in the second quarter in which we couldn’t hit shots. We were getting good looks. They just wouldn’t fall. We played hard, but it was just one of those nights,” — Stratford head coach Jason Fulks.
