Blakley, Wells a lot alike in win over Madill

(Continued)

Ada —

The Lady Cougars responded with a 15-6 surge to forge a 50-32 lead with 6:16 to play and finally put the game out of reach.

“In the first half, they made so many free throws and kind of stayed in the game. Madill came out in the third quarter and had a push, and then I thought we matched it and kind of put the game away,” Jennings said. “In the second half, our defense played really well without fouling.”

Sami Jewett didn’t hit a field goal, but she finished 8-of-10 from the free-throw line for Ada.

It was the first game for Ada since a 69-32 win over Durant Jan. 21.

“We hadn’t played in a week, so you had to feel pretty good about getting the win,” Jennings said.

Ada can now focus on a showdown with Harrah at home Friday night. The Lady Panthers enter the game 15-2 and ranked No. 3 in Class 4A.

“It should be a showdown,” Jennings said. “Hopefully both teams show up and play well because it’s a big game at an important time (4A playoff pairings will be announced next week). They have a great basketball team, and I’m excited about the opportunity to see how we match up with them.”
