NOTEWORTHY: Tarin Dubler poured in 17 points and snatched seven rebounds as Asher rolled to a 47-24 victory over visiting Allen on Tuesday. The Lady Indian win avenged a loss in the semifinals of the Pottawatomie County Tournament last Thursday. Shelby Fleming followed with 12 points before fouling out for the victorious Lady Indians. Tristan Milburn was next with seven points for the winners. Milburn and Dubler each hit a 3-pointer for Asher’s only treys of the night. Sarah Wauahdooah recorded five steals to go with her four points. Charlea Leonard topped the Lady Mustangs with six points. Leading 10-9, the Lady Indians outscored the visitors, 12-5 in the second quarter, for a 22-14 halftime lead. Asher led 37-20 after three quarters.

NOTEWORTHY: Justice Dees registered a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds as the Stonewall Lady Longhorns posted a 62-43 win over visiting Coalgate on Tuesday. Dees was one of four double-figure scorers for Stonewall as Taylor Barrett finished with 14 (including one 3-pointer), Tana Davis followed with 13 (including one trey) and Alexis Lambert finished with 11. Landon Garcia paced the Lady Wildcats with 20 points, including three 3-pointers, and Whitney Williams ended up with 14 points, including a pair of treys. The Lady Longhorns doubled up Coalgate, 18-9, in the first quarter and went on to a 34-16 halftime lead.

NOTEWORTHY: Three Roff Lady Tigers reached double figures in a 69-14 road rout at Wanette on Monday. Jalee Hood led the Roff scoring effort with 25, Jessi Scott followed with 16 and Amy Crawford added 15. Destiney Knighten topped Wanette with seven points. Roff jumped out to a 16-1 lead after one quarter and led 34-1 at halftime. It was 49-7 through three periods.

NOTEWORTHY: Tanner Dees fired in 18 points and Gage Burns added 11, including one 3-pointer, as Stonewall survived poor free-throw shooting to hold off Coalgate, 46-39, on Tuesday. The Longhorns converted just 11-of-20 free shots in the contest. Stonewall led 12-9 after one quarter, 23-16 at halftime and 36-24 through three quarters. Dakota Morgan also contributed seven points, including one trey, for the winners. C.J. Bills and Rob Penney each tossed in 12 points in a losing cause for the Wildcats and Nate Hardy finished with nine after sinking three 3-pointers.

COACH’S QUOTE: “In the first half, I thought we played really good defense. In the second half we struggled with free throws again and let them back into the game. Coalgate played extremely hard. It was nice to come away with the win,” — Stonewall head coach Wes Moreland.

NOTEWORTHY: The Stratford Bulldogs blew a 12-point first-quarter lead an eight-point advantage heading into the fourth, in falling to host Community Christian School on Tuesday in Norman. CCS attempted 26 free throws compared to Stratford’s eight and was 15-of-17 from the charity stripe in the fourth period alone with many fouls coming with Stratford trying to stop the clock. Jon Golden tossed in 12 points, including two 3-pointers, for the Bulldogs while Chase Bradstreet and Brenton Willingham added nine points apiece in a losing effort. Bradstreet and Willingham each knocked down one trey. Three players reached double figures for CCS. 

COACH’S QUOTE: “It was a complete collapse in the fourth quarter. There was no rhyme or reason to it other than we couldn’t hit shots. It was quite ugly. We got cold and they got hot. It left a real sour taste in my mouth,” — Stratford head coach Mark Qualls.

NOTEWORTHY: In the third meeting of the season, Class 3A eighth-ranked Atoka outlasted Class 2A  second-ranked Latta, 48-44, on Saturday in the championship game of the Tishomingo Tournament. Bishop Coulter tossed in 16 points and Tyreke Johnson had nine as Atoka picked up its second win in three games against the Panthers this season. Brady Johnson sank three 3-pointers, finished with nine points and dished out four assists for Latta. Derek Epperly, Brogan Cantrell, Kade Hayes and Treston Tully finished with seven points each in a losing cause. Epperly also grabbed seven rebounds and Hayes connected on two 3-point tries. Atoka led 15-7 after the first quarter and 23-11 at halftime. The Panthers outscored Atoka, 33-25, in the second half, but it was too little, too late.

COACH’S QUOTE: “We shot the ball very poorly in the first half. We came out and played well in the second half. We cut it to four a couple of times, but we dug ourselves too big of a hole to climb out of,” — Latta head coach Donnie Husband.
