Plans set for golf tournament

Ada — The Valley View Foundation (soon to be Mercy Foundation) will host its ninth annual fundraising golf tournament on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Oak Hills Golf and Country Club to support Mercy Hospital Ada. Festivities will include a silent auction and conclude with the Foundation’s Fourth Annual Charity Poker Tournament. Tee times start as early as 7:15 a.m. The registration fee of  $125 per person includes the greens fee for 18 holes of golf on Oak Hills Country Club. Entry to the tournament is $40 per person. “We are looking forward to a great turnout and a lot of fun as we raise money to continue supporting our community’s quality health care,” said Todd Essary, executive director of Valley View Foundation. “The community has been a great partner with the foundation and we are thankful for their continued support.” For more information or to register for any of these events, please call: (580) 421-1403 or email: foundation@vvrh.com.     As senior Walker Whitworth was bombing in the final five 3-point shots of his remarkable Ada High career, he was resetting the school’s triples record at 151. Across the way at the A-Town Barber Shop, barber Erick Gray did not even know he owned the record of 146, much less that someone was breaking it.
