NOTEWORTHY: Tyler Daffern fired a five-inning, complete-game, two-hit shutout as Tupelo (No. 18 in Class B) trounced visiting Mill Creek, 8-0, on Tuesday. Daffern gave up just two walks and struck out eight. He also helped his own cause by hitting a two-run homer in the first inning. Corey McCollum went 2-for-3 from the plate for the Tigers with a run-scoring single in the first inning and a two-run double in the second. Daffern finished 1-for-3 from the plate. Tristen Hogue also went 1-for-3 and knocked a run with a single in the fifth.

Team Record: Tupelo 9-8.

NOTEWORTHY: The Class 4A No. 9 Lady Panthers fell to the Class 5A No. 3 Lady Dragons 4-2. Latta had a strong defensive performance, but offensively, they stranded eight base runners.  Three Lady Panthers accounted for seven of their eight hits in the contest. Maria Priest was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Chelsea Alexander finished 2-for-3. Shelbey Parnacher was also 2-for-3 with an RBI. Morgan Lathan, Erica Martinez and Brece Hammon all had two hits apiece for the Lady Dragons.

Team Record: Latta 11-7; Purcell 19-4.
