McAlester — The Ada Lady Cougars shot 59 percent from the floor and 53 percent from 3-point range (8-of-15) in rolling to a 65-34 rout of host McAlester on Saturday.

Aaliyah Blakley paced Ada with 17 points, including one 3-pointer, to go with six rebounds, three steals, two assists and a blocked shot as the Lady Cougars improved to 11-3 on the season.

Olivia Wells added 11 points and six boards and Menee Thomsen tacked on nine points, all off three 3-pointers.

“I thought we played a really solid game.  We are starting to shoot the ball better,” said Ada Head Coach Christie Jennings. “I think that has a lot to do with our legs.  We are finally getting some time in between games to recuperate.  Playing three tournaments so close together definitely made us tougher, but it took its toll on our legs.”

Markeisha Black and Dembri Weeks contributed seven points apiece to Lady Cougar attack. Black also registered six steals and four rebounds and Weeks nailed one 3-point jumper.

Guard play also proved to be big for Ada as Sami Jewett knocked down a pair of treys for six points and finished with four assists and three boards and Haley Dean ended up with five points, including one 3-pointer, to go with seven assists, a pair of steals and two rebounds.

Ada jumped out to an 18-10 advantage after one quarter and cruised to a 36-21 halftime advantage.

The Lady Cougars then put the defensive clamps on the Lady Buffs, holding them to single digits in each of the third and fourth quarters.

Ada outscored McAlester 16-4 in the third in building a 52-19 advantage and outscored the hosts, 13-9, in the fourth.

Taylor Compton paced McAlester with 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Lacy McLain finished with nine.

The next action for the Lady Cougars will be Tuesday at home against Durant.
