NOTEWORTHY: A Latta turnover and an Atoka bucket at the buzzer lifted the host team over the Class 2A fifth-ranked Lady Panthers, 39-37, on Tuesday night. The loss overshadowed a double-double effort from Latta’s Nelaina Baker, who finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Krisha Young followed with nine points, including one 3-pointer, in a losing cause. Sydney Brinlee followed with seven points and five boards, and Shelbey Parnacher tossed in five points, including one trey, and four steals. However, the Lady Panthers shot just 28 percent from the field for the game. Class 3A 18-ranked Atoka was led by Shaylynn Bass’ game-high 16 points. Latta led 18-10 at halftime but was outscored by an 18-2 margin in the third quarter as Atoka led 26-20 heading into the final period. The Lady Panthers did manage to snatch a fourth-quarter lead, but they couldn’t hold on.

COACH’S QUOTE: “The third quarter killed us. We came out flat. We can’t have down time like we did in this game. I’m proud of the way we fought back in the fourth quarter, and we played some good defense,” — Latta head coach David Tinkler.

NOTEWORTHY: Cheyenne Weast knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 16 total points as Stratford rolled to a 52-36 win over Dibble on Tuesday at East Central University’s Kerr Activities Center. Kathryne Alberson and Vanessa Cothren followed with 11 and 10 points respectively for the Lady Bulldogs, who led 13-6 after one quarter, 24-18 at halftime and 39-30 after three periods. Leah Parker chipped in nine points for Stratford.

Record: Stratford is 6-5

NOTEWORTHY: Lauren Trimmer tossed in 17 points, Breecia Crawford followed with 12 and Ashley Cornell added 10 as Roff ripped Vanoss, 61-41, on Tuesday. Kalli Mowdy paced Vanoss with nine points, including her team’s only 3-pointer. Toni Prince and Crystal Frederick added eight points apiece in a losing cause. Roff jumped out to a 15-8 lead through one quarter, led 24-14 at halftime and had a 41-26 advantage after three periods.

Record: Roff 13-3; Vanoss 6-10.

NOTEWORTHY: Tarin Dubler fired in 36 points, including four 3-pointers, as Asher whipped host Wanette, 73-8, on Tuesday. Shelby Fleming followed with 16 points to go with eight steals. Desaray Goodgion was the Lady Indians’ top rebounder with eight, and Sarah Wauahdooah totaled five assists to go with her two points. Asher jumped out to a 25-2 lead after one quarter and held the Lady Tigers scoreless in the second on the way to a 40-2 halftime lead. The Lady Indians then went on a 23-2 run in the third to go up 63-4. Courtney Williams’ four points led Wanette.
