Tecumseh spoils Ada's Senior Night

Ada —

The Tecumseh Lady Savages jumped out to a 10-0 lead and spoiled Ada’s Senior Night with a 10-2 victory Tuesday at the Ada Softball Complex.

Tecumseh, ranked No. 5 in Class 4A, improved to 20-8 on the year, while Ada slipped to 8-16.

The Lady Savages staged a two-out rally in the top of the first, with Bailey Smith delivering an RBI double and two more runners scoring on passed balls that put Ada in an early 3-0 hole.

Tecumseh tacked on three more runs in the second — getting back-to-back RBI singles by Suni Meely and Jordan Detherage — to extend its lead to 6-0.

Hilary Babbitt led off the top of the third inning with a solo home run for the visitors, and Caitlin Bingham added a two-RBI double later in the frame.

The Lady Cougars came up with a two-out rally of their own in the bottom of the fourth. Morganne Freeman started it off with a single to right field before Alexis Walker blasted a double to put runners at second and third. After courtesy runner Jordan Denio scored on an error, Kendal Johnson hit an RBI single to trim Ada’s deficit to 10-2.

Ada went down in order in the fifth, ending the game via the run rule.

Tecumseh outhit Ada 14-4. Meely finished a perfect 4-for-4, while Detherage added three hits for the Lady Savages.

The Lady Cougars are back in action next Tuesday, traveling to McLoud. Coach Scott Simpson’s club will begin the playoffs with a Class 4A District matchup at Byng next Thursday. The best-of-three matchup will begin at 3 p.m.
