Whoever said it’s not how you start, but how you finish needed to watch the Ada Cougars’ nail-biting 57-56 win over arch-rival McAlester Tuesday night inside the Bob Brumley Gymnasium.
The Cougars had one of their most efficient first quarters of the season against the Buffaloes, hitting 10-of-14 field goals — including a trio of 3-pointers — and racing to leads of 10-0 and 25-15. In fact, Cory Kilby hit back to back buckets to start the second quarter for the Cougars to stretch Ada’s lead to 29-15 at the 6:29 mark.
But from the halfway point of the third quarter until the final buzzer sounded, the game turned into a seesaw affair.
Ada head coach Ron Anderson said during a pregame chat that he would take a one-point road win.
