     The Ada Cougars spent much of Week 1 of preseason practice inside The Dunham, the huge indoor practice facility, dodging rain and not damaging soaked fields.

Saturday morning's Media Day was the start of a long day, capped by the annual Maroon/White intrasquad scrimmage in the evening.

     At first glance, the Cougars had lost much of the skilled cadre but kept much of the men in the trenches — the fellows who put their hands in the dirt.

     Head coach Matt Weber said the making of his sixth Cougar team was going well and holes were being filled, including a pleasant surprise — a diamond in the rough in the leadership area.
