Brittany West popped in 14 points and Cheyenne Galimba added 11, including one 3-pointer, as the Konawa Lady Tigers opened the season with a come-from-behind 45-41 victory over visiting Stratford on Tuesday night.
Danielle Khoury chipped in eight points for the Lady Tigers, who placed nine players in the scoring column.
The Lady Bulldogs, who were also playing in their season opener, received 14 points from Vanessa Cothren and eight, including one trey, from Leah Parker.
“If we continue to play as hard and as fast, it’s going to be an exciting season,” said Stratford Head Coach Jason Fulks. “We had our opportunities, but missed 13 free throws. Both bunches played their hearts out in this game.”
The Bulldogs were only 14-of-27 from the free-throw line while Konawa was just 15-of-32.
The Lady Tigers had a 6-2 lead after one quarter, but the two teams were deadlocked at 20 at halftime.
Stratford had a slim 32-30 edge, heading into the fourth quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs face host Dibble Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Big 8 Conference Tournament. Konawa will play in the Southeastern Shootout in McAlester, beginning on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Stratford trailed 11-3 after one quarter and was down 18-6 at one point in the second, but battled back to pull within 21-20 at the half and outscored Konawa 27-19 in the second half.
“We made a pretty good run and, defensively, we picked up the pace in the second half. We had a few shots start falling as well,” said Stratford Head Coach Mark Qualls.
Zach Snow paced Konawa with a game-high 17 points, with 14 of those coming in the first half, and Caynaan Garner followed with eight.
“We did a good job defensively on Snow in the second half,” Qualls said. “It was a hard-nosed, grind-it-out game.”
