Four area baseball players, fresh off outstanding spring seasons, will play for either the Oklahoma Junior Gold or Junior Blue teams in the 19th Annual Sunbelt Junior Classic Baseball Series set for June 7-12 in the McAlester area.
Ada High School’s Scott Johnson and Latta’s Kade Hayes, along with a pair of Byng stars in Reid Wall and Joe Nemecek, will represent the area in the event, which will involve all-star teams from several states in games to be played at McAlester High School and Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton.
Johnson, who primarily played right field and some in center for the Cougars, had a superb 2013 junior campaign after batting .316 with three homers, two triples, four doubles and 23 runs batted in. He also drew 12 walks and stole 10 bases in helping to fuel the Ada offense.
