ECU music department to present symphonic band, wind ensemble concert on Feb. 27
East Central University’s Department of Music will present the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble Concert on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ataloa Theatre inside the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

Seat belts used in wrecks; no injuries reported
Officials said seat belt use aided those involved in two wrecks Monday to come out unscathed.
Both wrecks occurred on State Highway 19 in succession. The first wreck occurred about 2:45 p.m. one mile west of Garr Corner. Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper Rob Benedict said 37-year-old Barry Macmillan of Stratford was driving a pickup west on SH 19 when he ran off the road to the left and slammed into a tree. Macmillan was removed from his pickup by Ada and Vanoss firefighters using hydraulic prying and cutting tools. He was taken by Mercy EMS to Mercy Hospital Ada as a precaution. Benedict said Macmillan was shaken up by the force of the air bag deployment.
Two arrested for alleged sex crimes against children
Two men have been arrested in separate cases on suspicion of committing sexual crimes against children. Both the alleged victims are under age 12.
Arrested were 51-year-old Lawrence Tucker of Ada, and 33-year-old Joshua Dartanion Hamburger of Roff. Hamburger was formally charged Friday in Pontotoc County District Court with felony sodomy of a victim under the age of 16.
Officials with the Pontotoc County district attorney’s office said they were awaiting a follow-up report from law enforcement before making a formal charging decision in Tucker’s case.
Two inmates suspected of attempted jail escape
Two jail inmates are facing additional charges after they allegedly tried to escape from Pontotoc County Justice Center recently.
Facing additional charges are 36-year-old Deremy Danyale Washington and 20-year-old Deiontay Trevon Harrison, both of Ada. Washington is in jail charged with robbery, while Harrison is charged with second-degree burglary.

Killer returns to Ada
A man convicted of killing an Ada woman more than a decade ago appeared in Pontotoc County District Court Monday seeking post conviction relief.
