Longtime jobs official accepts post in Texas

The Ada News

Ada — Nearly seven and a half years ago, Ann Miller joined the Ada Jobs Foundation as its director of marketing and research. She later became the vice president of economic development for the Jobs Foundation, which works under a contract with the city to promote economic development opportunities.

Now, Miller is taking the lessons she’s learned to another city.

Miller is the new executive director for the Buda (Texas) Economic Development Corp., which was formed in 2001 to boost Buda’s tax base and attract new jobs while enhancing the community’s character and natural resources. The agency works with city officials and the Buda Area Chamber of Commerce on reaching those goals.

As the executive director, Miller will focus on recruiting new businesses, making Buda more appealing to residents and other tasks designed to boost the community’s economy. She will report directly to the agency’s board of directors rather than to a boss, as she did at the Ada Jobs Foundation.

Miller said she is looking forward to her new job, which starts Jan. 2, 2013.
