Local resident Nathan Dial and his supporters might have gotten more feedback from a cemetery than they got from the folks at city hall Monday evening.
It was the citizens’ comment portion of Monday night’s Ada City Council meeting, and those moments were reserved for nine residents whose property was annexed against their will in February.
Some councilors may have had to bite their lips to keep quiet, but speakers supporting Dial and their own land interests unleashed their own tongues, lashing out at council members with a proverbial piece of their minds.
When it was over, council members voted unanimously to keep 180 acres of recently annexed property inside the city limits and immediately moved on to other agenda items.
It’s what Dial’s forces expected, meaning this case seems certain to be decided in court. Heels appear to be nailed to the floor on both sides. Nothing short of a judge with good bench leverage and a crowbar appears likely to loosen this stalemate.
