Hit-and-run victim released from hospital

Ada — An Ada woman who was hit by a vehicle in September has been released from an Oklahoma City Hospital.

Angela Wilburn, 49, was discharged from OU Medical Center, according to a hospital spokesperson. The spokesperson could not say exactly when Wilburn was released or whether she returned home or to a rehabilitation facility.

Wilburn was found unconscious in the 2800 block of Arlington at 9:42 p.m. Sept. 9. She was taken to Mercy Hospital Ada before being transferred to OU Medical Center. She was found by two good Samaritans who called 911. Wilburn had numerous injuries, which police listed as a shattered pelvis, right ankle fracture, vertebrae fracture, internal injuries, a blood clot in the brain and later suffered a heart attack. Although she was taken to the hospital in serious condition, Wilburn was upgraded to good condition in late September.

East Central University womens’ basketball coach Kent Wayne Franz, 50, who allegedly fled the scene after hitting Wilburn with his pickup, turned himself in to police the day after Wilburn was found. He was later charged in Pontotoc County District Court with leaving the scene of accident involving injury.
