NOV. 6, 2012

• A special meeting of the Board of Directors for Tri-County Indian Nations Community Development Corporation is 10 a.m. at Murray State College-Aggie Dining Room, One Murray Campus, Tishomingo. • Al Anon meets at 8 p.m. each Tuesday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.

NOV. 7 , 2012

• The Divorce/Bereavement Support Group meets each Wednesday at 7 p.m. at The Compassion Outreach Center, 1124 Cradduck Rd., Ada. The group offers support for those who have lost a loved one through divorce or death. For more information, phone Tom at 580-332-6506.

• A dance is conducted each Wednesday at Irving Community Center, 704 N. Oak, from 7:30-10 p.m. Cost is $6 per person and is open to all ages.

NOV. 8, 2012

• Sport Aviation Enthusiasts meet each month on the second Thursday at 6 p.m. at Ada Municipal Airport terminal. For more information, phone Mack at 580-265-9461.

FRIDAY

NOV. 9, 2012

• Latta High School National Honor Society and Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) are partnering for a blood drive to help save the lives of those in area hospitals. The drive will occur from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1315 CR1560. 

• Al Anon meets at 8 p.m. each Friday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. 

• Ada Elks Lodge has brought in live bands for its Friday night dances. A little classic rock and a little country will appeal to everyone’s tastes. Cost is $5 a person and it’s open to the public. Dances start at 8 p.m. and end at 1 a.m. Ada Elks Lodge is located at 3850 Arlington in Ada.

• The Peach Town Opry in Stratford  hosts a gospel music show on the second Friday of every month starting at 7 p.m. They are open mike shows so everyone is encouraged to come and share their talents. The Opry is located inside the American Legion Post 191 building on US 177 just north of the four-way stop in Stratford.  For more information, phone Carole Grigg at (580)320-4319.

 

SATURDAY

NOV. 10, 2012

• Roff Educational Enhancement Foundation and Roff Masonic Lodge host their annual dinner theater at 6 p.m. at Roff Public School Student Center, 100 N. Broadway in Roff. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and younger. Proceeds go to scholarships presented through the local educational foundation.

• A benefit auction and car show takes place from 4-7 p.m. at the old Stonewall gymnasium, 600 High School Street. Clay Young and Darrell Meeks are auctioneers. Auction items include a Can Am DS 90x four wheeler, 10-wheeler of sand, 10-wheeler of gravel, roll-off rental, lots of gift baskets and pies and cakes. Proceeds from the event go to help Mikki Turner and Jason “Twig” Turner with medical expenses. A Turner Benefit Fund has been established at First American Bank of Stonewall. Donations will be received and disbursed by Stonewall Free Will Baptist Church, host of this event. For more information, phone 580-421-1915.

• Lost Cherokees of Arkansas and Missouri hosts an auction and meeting at the Masonic Lodge in Allen. Members are to take baked goods, canned goods, dried food or material goods to be auctioned. Headmen Cliff Bishop, Curtis Smith and Don Harness will be there. Cakes and drinks will be served at the end of the meeting.

 

MONDAY

NOV. 12, 2012

• East Central University and Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) are partnering for a two-day blood drive Nov. 12-13 to help save the lives of those in area hospitals. The drive will occur from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the North Lounge on East 12th Street, Ada. 

• A breakfast honoring local veterans and their families will be held at Konawa American Legion Hut from 7-9 a.m. The menu includes scrambled eggs, ham, biscuits and gravy, coffee and juice. The annual breakfast is sponsored by members of Konawa American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 70 and paid for with local dues and business donations. For more information, phone 580-925-3114.

• Ada Elks Lodge dance classes are 7 p.m. the second and fourth Monday of each month. Classes are open to the public. Cost is $3 per person. Singles and couples are welcome. For more information, phone 332-0339 or 332-8633. 

• TOPS, Take Off Pounds Sensibly, a support weight loss group, meets at 8:30 a.m. each Monday at Irving Community Center, second floor. For more information, phone 580-456-7673. 

•Veterans of Foreign Wars, Desert Storm Post 11194, holds its monthly meeting the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Music Room  located on the second floor of Ada Public Library. Anyone having an interest in the VFW, any veteran, and especially those who have earned a campaign medal through participation in combat,  are encouraged to attend. The Post also operates a Veterans Service Office at 701 N. Broadway in Ada. 

• Ada-Seminole TEA Party meets from 6:30-9 p.m. at Ada Chamber of Commerce community meeting room, 209 W. Main Street.
