Sulphur man injured in accident

Ada —

A 23-year-old man was critically injured with internal and external trunk and leg injuries in a one-car mishap on state Highway 1, about 5.3 mile south of Ada in Pontotoc County, according to a news release from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The injured passenger was identified as Cody Wayne McCullough, 23, Sulphur. He was transported by Medi-Flight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

A 2000 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Kasey Cummins, 22, Sulphur,  was traveling north on state Highway 1 when she apparently fell asleep at the wheel, according to Trooper Brian Bagwell of the Pontotoc Count Detachment of Troop F. 

Also in that vehicle was 3-year-old Adrien Rayne Neal of Sulphur. The  toddler was not injured.

The vehicle left the highway to the right and struck a  tree.

The offical cause of the colllison was listed as sleepy and inattention)

Bagwell was assisted in the investigation by  Trooper Robert Benedict, also of Pontotoc County  Detachment of Troop F.
