Three arrested for suspicion of marijuana use

Ada —

A puff of black cigar smoke being blown in the direction of Ada Police Department  patrol officer Kylor Pool, who was standing outside the pulled-over vehicle at Arlington and Susan streets, wasn’t enough of a masking agent to hide the fact there were suspected “controlled dangerous substances” inside the car.

Once the evidence was discovered during an inventory of the vehicle, three East Central University students were arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of marijuana.

The officer had noticed the car’s driver, Ashley Huhman, 19, Ardmore, making an improper turn and traveling across a lane of traffic about 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Sobriety tests for alcohol proved negative. Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Deputy T.J Heath’s drug-sniffing dog failed to “alert,” even after the officer had the students get back in the car, Pool followed up by having the students step out of the car.
