Shots fired at local department store

Ada — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shots fired incident which occurred at Ada Wal-Mart late Friday afternoon.

According to radio traffic, a man, who allegedly attempted to steal beer, was being arrested when he ran from authorities. He ran to a waiting pickup and jumped into the passenger side. When police blocked the vehicle, the suspect allegedly pushed a woman out of the driver's side and took control of the pickup. He was reversing the vehicle toward officers when shots were fired at the pickup.

The suspect fled, with a flat tire after a bullet struck it, but was apprehended a few blocks away. Ada police asked for assistance from the Oklahoma State Bureau of investigation with the matter. See Sunday's edition of The Ada News for more on this developing story.
