Guns, drugs land 2 in jail

Ada —

Local police can vouch for the fact they never know where a drug bust is going to happen or where the evidence will lead them.

This one started at an innocent location — the  west side of Dairy Lou Drive Inn.

It would end with a loaded pistol being retrieved from a woman inside Pontotoc County Jail.

Fortunately, no one was injured, but Pontotoc County Sheriff John Christian was breathing a sigh of relief and crediting the alertness of law officers with preventing what could have been a tragedy.

Police had called a young man’s mother after running a warrant check and finding out he was driving with a invalid license.

Officers called the young man’s mother and she came and got him and took him home.

End of story, right?

No, beginning of story.

Officers Kathy Unbewust and Link Logan, while waiting for the young man’s mother to come pick up her son, noticed a a white Toyota Yaris with a Texas tag sitting south of the pickup with the motor running.

At first, it appeared there were no passengers inside the car with the running engine. But further investigation revealed  two breathing human bodies were inside the car. They had just had put their car seats all the way down where they couldn’t be seen from a distance.
