Ada —

Monday night brought rain and hail to Pontotoc County, but the storm did not cause any major damage.

Quarter-size hail fell on the north edge of Ada for a brief period but did not result in any damage, Sheriff John Christian said Tuesday.

“We were very fortunate last night,” he said.

Christian said the heavy rain flooded out County Road 3580 between County Roads 1520 and 1530, just north of Homer School. He predicted flooding could become a problem in other parts of the county.

“When we have this much rain, we usually have some road closings due to flooding,” he said.

A green energy pond about three-fourths of a mile from Butler’s Mini-Mart on Monte Vista backed up from the heavy rains Tuesday morning and was flooding an area on North Monte Vista, according to District 1 County Commissioner Gary Starns.

Starns said he called the pond’s owner, Trey Krueger with KRU Agrogas Holdings, to inform him of the flooding.

“I told him his dam was causing havoc and he needed to do something about it,” Starns said.
