Ada —

Ada residents will pay 24 cents more for their water and sewer service starting in July.

A resident’s total minimum bill under the current schedule is $39.14 which includes water service, sewer service and trash collection. When the bill is broken down into its individual elements, the resident pays $11.97 for water and associated fees, $11.82 for sewer service and fees and $15.35 for trash service.

When the new schedule is implemented, the total minimum bill would be $12.21 for water, $12.06 for sewer and $15.35 for trash collection. That adds up to $39.62 — an increase of 48 cents from the current total.

Under the city’s current fee schedule, residents pay $4.97 for the first 200 cubic feet of water and $2.30 per 100 cubic feet thereafter, according to information from City Hall. But when the new schedule takes effect, residents will pay $5.21 for the first 200 cubic feet and $2.35 for each additional 100 cubic feet.

The city also charges residents a $7 water development fee which helps cover the cost of water-related projects. That fee will not change when the new schedule takes effect.

Sewer rates will also rise by 24 cents this year. The current rate is $4.82 for the first 200 cubic feet and 68 cents per 100 cubic feet after that. The new rate is $5.06 for the first 200 cubic feet and 69 cents for each additional 100 cubic feet.
