Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service set

The Ada News

Ada —

In honor of the holiday, a city-wide Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service will be held from 9 a.m. until noon on Monday, Jan. 21.

Because the day is a federal holiday, many consider it to be a day off. Members of King’s family have urged that his service to the country be honored by considering it ‘A Day On, Not a Day Off.’

The city of Ada is coordinating the service effort which will consist of picking up trash and debris throughout the city.

Volunteers are urged to bring gloves and wear work clothes. They should go to East Central University’s Centennial Plaza, which is located in front of the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center, by 9 a.m.
