Ada News looking for biggest loser

Ada —

Most people would like to shed a few pounds even before the feasting that takes place this time of year. With a new year around the corner, resolutions are already being made to do exactly that in 2013. To that end, The Ada News and area sponsors are kicking off the fifth annual Greatest Loser Contest. According to Maurisa Nelson, The Ada News advertising director, deadline for entering is Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013. (See full page ad in today’s newspaper for an entry form.)

“The first weigh-in takes place Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Perks Club, 117 S. Townsend in Ada,” Nelson said. “Weigh-ins continue at Perks Club each Tuesday for 13 weeks. Final weigh-in is Tuesday, April 9.”

This year there will be two winners, one male and one female. Prizes and business donors are listed in a full page ad in today’s newspaper.

Nelson said participants may miss two weigh-ins and still be eligible to win. As in years past, participants are allowed to provide a pseudo-name. Names and weekly weight losses will be published in each Friday’s newspaper. Winners’ names will published Friday, April 12, in The Ada News.
