Ada to host movie night in Wintersmith Park

Ada — Movie buffs who didn’t see the animated film “Frozen” in theaters will get another chance this month.

The city of Ada will host a showing of “Frozen,” along with inflatables for the kids and other activities, on Saturday, April 26, in Wintersmith Park. Vision Bank is sponsoring the event.

The Kiwanis of Greater Ada will sell concessions that evening, and people can ride the train, ride the carousel or play miniature golf.  Additional concessions will be available near the movie site.

The movie and the inflatables are free, but there will be a small fee for the concessions and the rides.

Activities will begin at 5 p.m., and the movie will start at dusk in the area south of Wintersmith Lodge. The movie will be shown on the city’s 20-foot movie screen, which made its debut in 2013 at the Ada Air Expo.

“It’s just like being in a drive-in movie outside, under the stars,” public relations specialist Lisa Bratcher said Tuesday.

If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the event will be rescheduled for another date.

Bratcher said people are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, blankets and snacks and enjoy the evening. She added that the April 26 event will offer something for everyone.

“We are just trying to provide safe family entertainment, and we’re very, very happy to be able to do that for the fine people of Ada,” she said.

Movie night is the first in a series of events at  Wintersmith Park that will continue through the end of the summer.
