Royce Garvin and Tristian Garvin attended the Junior National Judo Training Camp June 5-7 at Garland, Texas. This event qualified them to compete in the National Junior Judo championship competition. Judo winners in the Texas classic Judo Competition May 2 at Denton, Texas, included John Garvin, gold medalist in the masters heavy weight division; Sam Cooper, bronze medalist in seniors lightweight division; Royce Garvin, silver medalist in juniors teen division; Tristian Garvin, bronze medalist in juniors intermediate division; Riley Manning and Hunter Manning, both bronze medalist in juniors Bantam ages 9-12 division. At the May 16 Tulsa Judo competition, John Garvin won gold in heavyweight division; Royce Garvin, bronze medalist in the junior teens division; Tristian Garvin, gold medalist in junior intermediate division; Hunter Manning, bronze medalist in junior Bantam division; and Kevin Johnson, (not pictured) gold medalist in seniors division. Weather bulletin for Pontotoc County
The National Weather Service in Norman reported early Thursday afternoon that Pontotoc County residents can expect a temperature of 19 degrees tonight with a wind chill of about 10 degrees.
Temperatures were expected to remain about 27 degrees all day Thursday before dropping to 19 Thursday night.
The entire county and much of southern Oklahoma are under a winter storm warning with ice accumulations of 1/4 to 1/2 inch expected. Ada's accumulation is expected to be closer to 1/4 inch.
