4 injured in Asher bridge crash

Asher — Four people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on a bridge spanning the South Canadian River Wednesday.

The crash occurred on state Highway 3W just after 7 a.m. Names and exact details of the crash were not released by press time Wednesday, however law enforcement at the scene said the driver of a Chevrolet Suburban was driving north across the bridge when she attempted to pass another northbound driver and slammed head-on into a Nissan Rogue, which was southbound. The Chevrolet then hit the other northbound car in the side. After being freed by firefighters, the driver of the Chevrolet and the driver of the Nissan, who both sustained serious injuries, were taken by medical helicopter to an Oklahoma City hospital in critical condition, according to radio traffic.

A passenger in the Chevrolet and the driver of the other northbound car were taken by EMS to Mercy Hospital Ada. The Ada News will have more information as it becomes available.
