Child arrested at Ada school on weapons complaint

Ada — A student at Homer Elementary School was arrested Tuesday after he was allegedly found in possession of weapons.

The boy, 9 years old, reportedly had a pair of scissors which he had broken in half. Police said he told two friends he had the weapons in case  another student, with whom he was not getting along, attacked him. The boy told police he was being bullied by the other student, but the suspect’s friends said he told them he disliked the other student becaus he was always getting him in trouble with the principal.

School faculty found a note with a drawing that depicted the other student in a violent way, police said. The boy was arrested on suspicion of having a weapon on school property and turned over to juvenile authorities. Police said the boy is receiving counseling to get the help he needs.
