Human remains found

Ada — Law enforcement officials said human remains were discovered a few miles south of Pickett Thursday.

Sheriff John Christian said he cannot comment on whether or not they belong to Charles Manuel, an Ada man missing since March. Christian said the remains were found in an area where Manuel was last seen, though.

“The location is near where he was last seen walking from a residence out there,” Christian said. “A rancher out in that area found human remains in a creek. We responded along with detectives from the Ada Police Department who originated the missing person report (for Manuel).”

Christian said the remains were sent to the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner’s Office for a positive identification and cause of death. He said there were no obvious signs of foul play.
