Polls open Tuesday in local elections

Ada — Patrons of Allen Public Schools will decide today whether the district should issue $250,000 in bonds to finance a variety of projects.

Two separate bond questions are on the ballot. In the first question, the district is seeking authority to issue $100,000 in bonds for technology upgrades.

The second question asks voters whether the district should issue $150,000 in bonds for transportation equipment.

Passage of the bond issues will not require a tax increase, according to the district’s website. Additional details were not available Monday, as Allen schools were closed due to the weather.

The Allen bond issues aren’t the only questions that will be settled today. Voters in Roff and Francis will decide whether to renew Oklahoma Gas and Electric’s franchise agreements with those towns for another 25 years.

And in Ada, voters will decide who will represent Wards 2 and 4 on the Ada City Council. Incumbent Ben McFarlane is running unopposed in the 2nd Ward, and incumbent Guy Sewell is facing newcomer Jason Smeltz in the 4th Ward.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
