Attempted murder arrest made

Local teen also faces arson, conspiracy allegations

Ada — A 15-year-old Ada teenager is being held in Pontotoc County Justice Center on three felony counts, including the attempted murder of 46-year-old James Vercelli.

The teenager was ordered by Assistant District Judge Martha Kilgore to be held in a separate  cell at the Justice Center, as required by law to protect underage inmates.

The decision was made by Kilgore after looking at an affidavit in support probable cause filed by Ada  City Police Detective Tracy Jackson and brought to court by Pontotoc County District Attorney Chris Ross.

The D.A.  accuses the defendant of “attempting to kill,” of “Arson in the First Degree” and of “Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.”

More specifically,  the youth is accused of helping  set fire to a home at 931 W. 23rd on Tuesday morning, knowing, according to the affidavit, that a wheel-chair-bound man was inside the home.
