Ada —

OneOK Partners is building a new natural gas pipeline in Pontotoc County, which is causing Ada officials to worry about the possibility that a leak could contaminate the city’s water supply.

But a OneOK Partners spokesman said last week that the pipeline will meet or surpass the industry’s safety standards for such projects.

The Maysville-based company is building a 570-mile, 16-inch pipeline stretching from Medford to Mont Belvieu, Texas. The Sterling III project, which could cost between $610 million and $810 million, is designed to ship 193,000 barrels of natural gas liquids per day.
