Area country artist fulfills dream with release of new CD

Ada — Fans of Clint Austen get a chance to go country for a special cause Friday night at the McSwain Theatre.

The Ada-area country music artist is holding a CD Release Show that night with all proceeds going to benefit Special Olympics.

His friend, Dakota Whitewater, will open for Austen Friday evening.

Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door, which opens at 7 p.m. His new CD will also be on sale for $8 that night.

The event is sponsored by Sigma Tau Gamma at East Central University.

“I’ve always wanted to record a CD and get my music out there,” Austen said earlier this week. “It’s always been my dream to play at McSwain. They have a great sound system and the people are easy to work with. It’s the best venue around.”

The son of Jeff and Tara Humphers is a graduate of Byng High School.

Austen, who has been singing since he was six or seven years old, has been playing with current band members for about three years.

They include Wyatt Fisher, Bryan Harrison, Lantz Schetley and Dustin Cody.

Austen started writing country music for his songs at age 14, or about six years ago.

His current single, “You’re the Girl” is being played on KYKC in Ada.

Besides “You’re the Girl,” Austen will be playing some of his other songs, such as “Stay With Me,” “Got It Goin’ On,” “Perfect One,” and “Get the Party On.”

His album is also available on iTunes, it having been released last Wednesday and on Spotify.
