Ada —

With some assistance from the federal government, a Texas-based bioenergy company is getting ready to build a plant in Ada.

Kru Energy officials outlined their plans for the plant during a recent meeting with Pontotoc County Commission Chairman Gary Starns and residents who live near the site. Starns hosted the meeting to address residents’ questions about the facility.

Kru Energy has received a $300,000 matching grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development program to build a bioenergy plant on North Monte Vista Street, north of Homer School, said President and CEO Trey Kreuger. He said construction on the $7.8 million, 10-acre plant has not begun yet, but officials hope to have the facility up and running by late fall.
