Main Street, Latta Road intersection facelift to start May 6

Ada —

Road construction will begin May 6 at the intersection of Main Street and Latta/Asa Road.

The Chickasaw Nation Roads Program, working in tandem with the city, is implementing a traffic plan for the area to meet public needs well into the future.

Construction is designed to improve the safety of one of the most dangerous intersections in Pontotoc County. In addition to realigning traffic flow and adding turn lanes, the project will also add several user-friendly amenities to the area, which is located immediately south of the Chickasaw Lighthorse Police headquarters.

Traffic signals will be installed, while improved and additional street lighting will enhance safety. A sidewalk for citizens will be added on the south side of Main Street.

TTK Inc. of Edmond, will act as contractor on the project.Work is expected to last 210 days.

Traffic will be permitted during construction but may be restricted to one lane. Due to expected congestion, the public is encouraged to use Sandy Creek Drive or 14th Street as alternative routes during construction.
