Area man killed in farming accident

Roff —

A 76-year-old Fitzhugh man was killed Friday evening when a tree he was attempting to remove in a pasture toppled onto the tractor he was operating.

Jerry Eugene Fisher was pronounced dead at the scene of the mishap by Valley View Emergency Medical personnel. While it is unknown exactly what time the accident occurred, he was discovered at approximately 6:30 p.m., according to a report issued by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred approximately 2 miles west and two miles north of Roff in Pontotoc County, according to a report by troopers Keith Tell and James McKee.

Officers said Fisher was attempting to pull a tree from the ground with a Massey Ferguson tractor. The tree did become dislodged, but fell on top of the tractor pinning Fisher.

Ada Fire Department, Fitzhugh Fire Department, OHP and Valley View EMS responded to the scene, the report said.
