Ada — Authorities suspect alcohol may have been involved in a weekend crash which left a Roff man injured.

The crash occurred on County Road 1650 at 9:50 p.m. four miles west of Fittstown. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Tyler Jack said 41-year-old Gaylen D. Griffin was driving a 2002 Ford pickup west on CR 1650 when, for an unknown reason, he ran off the road to the right.

The pickup began to slide sideways as it entered a ditch, overturned one-half time and came to rest on its roof. Griffin was found 26 feet from the wreckage, Jack wrote in a report. Mercy EMS and Fittstown and Ada firefighters rendered aid to Griffin at the scene.

He was taken by Mercy EMS to Mercy Hospital Ada and admitted with internal trunk injuries, external trunk injuries and leg injuries.

According to radio traffic, Griffin possibly  suffered two broken legs. He is listed as stable. Based on his investigation, Jack said Griffin was not wearing a seat belt and said the cause of the wreck was alcohol — driving under the influence.

Pontotoc County sheriff’s deputies also responded.
