A 28-year-old Ada woman is behind bars, saddled with more than $50,000 in bonds to deal with before she can be released.
None of that money will keep her from explaining to a judge why she was put in jail Tuesday on suspicion of five different crimes.
For those crimes, if convicted, Desiree Janelle Romero could face even more serious jail time.
Romero was stopped in the 300 block of East 13th St. and arrested on suspicion of petit larceny, bringing a controlled, dangerous substance into the Pontotoc County Justice Center, plus two Lortabs and finally, for suspicion of giving false information to police.
The contraband resulted in a $25,000 bond, as did her possession of a controlled, dangerous substance.
For giving false information to police, another $544 was added, plus an additional $888 on an outstanding city warrant.
The petit larceny charge ran it up another $544.
All together that came to $51,976 on five separate bonds.
