Hospitalist joins Mercy Clinic

Ada — Mercy Clinic has recruited Dr. Luis Vigil to the hospital medicine program at Mercy Hospital Ada.

Hospital medicine allows Vigil to provide specialized care to hospital patients and often serve as the primary doctor during hospital stays. The care of the patient is most often coordinated between the hospitalist and the patient’s primary care physician.

Vigil comes to Mercy from Harrisonburg, Va., where he spent four years in private practice and the last three years as a hospitalist. He is joined in his moved to Ada by his wife Gabriella and their children Diego and Andres.

Vigil earned his bachelor’s degree and doctorate in medicine from Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University in Lima, Peru.

He completed his residency at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, N.J.

“Medicine was a natural choice for me; it allows me to help people. I can’t imagine doing anything else,” said Dr. Vigil. “My focus is on communicating with my patients and maintaining empathy for them.”

"It is my duty to show them how they can help themselves in order to prevent recurrence of their medical issues.”

Mercy Clinic is a physician-governed group of more than 2,000 medical providers across Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
