Davis man killed as result of two-vehicle wreck

Davis —

A Davis man died Monday after he was injured in a two-vehicle collision east of Davis.

Lawrence Pearson, 68, was taken to Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur where he was pronounced dead. The other driver, 66-year-old Donald Stevenson of Yukon, was treated and released from the same hospital.

Pearson was driving a 2003 GMC and was turning south onto a county road from state Highway 7, and Stevenson was eastbound on SH 7, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Pearson failed to yield to Stevenson’s 2013 Ford which struck the passenger’s side of Pearson’s vehicle.

Waymon and Joyce Brown of Longview, Texas, and Claudia and Daniel Coggin of Burleson, Texas, were riding in Stevenson’s vehicle, according to the OHP. Waymon Brown was taken to the Sulphur hospital where he was treated and released.

The Coggins were also taken to the Sulphur hospital, where they were admitted in fair condition with head injuries.

A hospital spokesman said Tuesday he could not release information about the Coggins’ condition.

Joyce Brown was originally taken to the Sulphur hospital, but she was later transferred to a Lawton hospital for treatment of head injuries. She was not listed as a patient Tuesday at Comanche County Hospital in Lawton, and it was not clear whether she was a patient at Southwest Medical Center.
