The Ada News
Ada Area Chamber of Commerce officials announce they are accepting applicants for Leadership Ada Class 2013. Each class can have up to 25 participants, and the Leadership Ada Committee is encouraging local businesses to be a part of this class or send someone from their business.
Class members from Leadership Ada Class 2012 found the five-class series informative.
“Leadership Ada provided a wide variety of opportunities to learn from dedicated professionals in our community,” said Ron Thetford, director of facilities and security at Valley View Regional Hospital. “It was a wonderful program that I highly recommend to any new leader.”
There are five classes that are to be attended by those accepted in Leadership Ada:
1) Welcome & Ada History Day facilitated by Lone’ Beasley;
2) Healthcare & Non Profits Day facilitated by Jerod Waters and Mary Ruth Barnes;
3) Business & Industry Day facilitated by Leigh Gaddis;
4) Education Day facilitated by Johnna Walker and Brandon Tilley; and
5) Chickasaw Nation Day facilitated by Wiley Barnes.
Each class is designed for participants to learn things about the Ada area they might not have already known.
“I have lived here all my life,” said Amber Jones, mortgage underwriting officer at Vision Bank. “Through Leadership Ada, I experienced and learned many things about the community that I was not aware of. I enjoyed networking with classmates and speaking with officials that dealt directly with issues that affect the area.”
In order to be considered for Leadership Ada, an application must be completed. This can be found online at www.adachamber.com or by calling and requesting an application from the Chamber of Commerce at 580-332-2506.
