4-H members named to 4-H Hall of Fame


Ada —

Katelyn Wade is a member of the Meat Science 4-H Club.  Katelyn’s main 4-H projects are public speaking, leadership, citizenship and health and fitness.  She has been a member of 4-H for 7 years.  During this time, she has reached 81,700 youth and adults through health and fitness, citizenship, leadership and public speaking activities.  She has participated in 52 citizenship and community service projects.  

Her favorite 4-H activities include those who encourage youth and adults to get up and move as well as eat healthy.  A newspaper headline that read “Oklahoma is leading our nation in childhood obesity” encouraged Katelyn to continue her efforts in the health and fitness project.  

Katelyn has been honored with the Kansas City 4-H Global Conference trip, Citizenship Washington Focus trip, Danforth I Dare You Leadership, senior achievement, outstanding county fair exhibits Asa Hutchison award, and meat science promotion.  She has served on the Pontotoc County 4-H teen leadership team and as a county ambassador.  She was a 2011 $1,000 state 4-H scholarship winner in Health and Fitness and the 2012 $1,000 state 4-H scholarship winner in Advanced Family & Consumer Sciences.  

Katelyn is a junior at Byng High School.  At Byng she is a member of the national honor society, Byng honor choir and was chosen for the ECOCDA honor choir.  She has also been Student of the Month and attends Pontotoc Technology Center cosmetology program. She was also named an Ada News All Star Kid.  

Katelyn is the daughter of Chance and Crystal Wade, Ada.
